M3XYU - A mobile station on Dartmoor
Welcome to my website. My name is Charles Coverley, and I'm a Foundation Class license holder at present. I hope in the near future to pass the Intermediate exam, and then go for the Full license. I recently passed the Foundation exam with the help of Bob Griffiths G7NHB and Chris Wingate M5CJW, at Plymouth Amateur Radio Club. I'm a member of Torbay Amateur Radio Society.

I've had an active interest in amateur radio since my childhood, and spent many teenage days shortwave listening on my home built radio, and a gorgeous old AR88D. My first job was a radio and TV engineer in Tavistock, and there I repaired a wide variety of sets, many going back to the fifties!

But life sometimes gets in the way, and I didn't return to this hobby until the summer of 2008. The enthusiasm is just as strong as ever, and I'm determined to build my own kit, hence the need to pass the Intermediate exam. I've recently acquired a 19 Set (WS19 Mk III, circa 1943), and I'm restoring it to working condition. My ambition is to install this in my Jeep and operate it on 3.5 Mhz and 7.0 Mhz, using as much of the original kit as possible.

Hope to QSO with as many of you out there as I can, especially once I'm on the HF bands. Dartmoor can be great for VHF, provided you're on the top!
